Dear Felix,
Happy birthday! Thank you for giving me your guitar last year — you enabled me to sing and play for so many people I love. The first song I recorded was for my mom’s birthday. Unfortunately, it was also the last song for her, but she loved it. It was very meaningful to me, and it would not have been possible without the guitar.
Last year on your birthday, I could only play one chord. Now I can finally play a song for you. Thank you again for being such a wonderful friend through all these years. I am so lucky to meet you during my first week at Stanford (and bonded over how our grandmothers use toothpaste for burns…) You can always count on me like I can count on you!
